Flagship Event Attendee Policy

UVSA-Midwest is committed to maintaining a safe environment and providing invaluable experiences and opportunities to its constituents. As the organization continues to grow, this policy has been established to define eligibility to attend UVSA-Midwest functions in order to abide by UVSA-Midwest's Mission Statement. This policy is in no means to discriminate or limit any specific individual(s) from attending; but rather to help UVSA-Midwest stay within its scope of constituents.

To attend UVSA-Midwest Flagship Events, you must:

  • Be an active or former member of a UVSA-Midwest Member School and local VSA

  • Be in good standing with your Member School and local VSA

  • Or meet special criteria for non-Member School attendees

  • Individuals who are eligible to attend UVSA-Midwest Flagship Events and Functions(i.e. attendees) must meet one, if not, all the following criteria:

    Membership Status

    Be an active or former member of a UVSA-Midwest Member Schooland their respective local Vietnamese Student Association (VSA) or similar student organization

    • Member statuses may vary based on the policies of the respective Member School

    Good Standing

    Be in good standing with the Member School and their respective local Vietnamese Student Association (VSA) or a similar student organization from a non-member school

    • "Good standing" is defined as having no violations of the member school's student conduct code, UVSA-Midwest Community Guidelines (SCI), or other similar policies

    • Determination of eligibility will be made on a case-by-case basis through a discussion between the Executive Board (EB), Board of Directors (BoD), and the President(s) and/or Vice President(s) of the member school

    • EB will have final say based on a majority vote, with the guidance of BoD and being the tie-breaker if needed

  • Individuals who are not affiliated with a UVSA-Midwest Member School and/or are not part of the Vietnamese community may still be eligible to attend.

    Important Note:

    UVSA-Midwest holds the right to conduct background checks or further screening prior to an individual's participation if any concerns arise. This is applicable to individuals from out-of-region partner organizations (UNAVSA, UVSA South, UVSA Gulf Coast, UVSA Southeast, etc.)
